The oldest roster in 2022?

The average age range of an MLB player last season was between 26 and 30 years old. That’s probably of no surprise to an MLB fan like yourself.

It’s the prime years of a player’s career regardless of what sport you’re talking about.

You’ve got the likes of Daulton Varsho (26) of the Toronto Blue Jays, Bryce Harper (30) of the Philadelphia Phillies or Aaron Judge (30) of the New York Yankees; three prime examples which sit within the bracket.

So, can you guess which team roster had the highest average age in 2022?

The New York Mets had the highest average player age within its 40-man roster compared to other teams in the franchise.

The 2022 Mets roster had an average player age of 30.68 years old. That includes the likes of Catcher Francisco Álvarez (21) to the older and more experienced players like Pitchers; Adam Ottavino (36) and Max Scherzer (37).

Likewise, the youngest MLB team roster was the Cleveland Guardians with an average of 26.42 years old. This therefore includes players like the Infielders Gabriel Arias (22) and Andrés Giménez (23) right up to Pitcher Aaron Civale (27) and Infielder José Ramírez (29).

Where’s the data from?

So this is according to data collected from EPSN then collated and published by Statista in July. It shows the average player age for each Major League Baseball roster in 2022.

The Jays were reported to have an average player age of 28.27 years old. This of course includes players like Catcher and Designated Hitter Alejandro Kirk (23) and Shortstop Otto Lopez (23), right up to Pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu (35).
